Parks of Moscow

Izmailovsky Park has an old history. In ancient times there was a countryside royal estate with hunting grounds. Russian tsar Peter the Great spent his childhood there. This park is located in the north of Moscow and offers more than 70 attractions. Architectural monuments of the 17th century are located in the park, so tourists can not only enjoy the attractions, but also admire Russian architecture.
Sokolniki Park is also one of the most popular ones in Moscow. The park was opened in 1931. The park occupies the territory of the former Sokolnichya grove, being a part of a forest. In the 16-17 centuries, Sokolnichya grove became the place for festive gatherings on public holidays. There was a system of cascade ponds in the park. There were several ponds there. Beginning from 1878 the park became public. In 1973 the palace of Sports “Sokolniki” was built there, later winter football field was erected. The park has hospitals, kindergartens, rest homes and also a complex consisting of 22 pavilions for international exhibitions.
Central park of Culture and Recreation named after Gorkiy was the first recreational park in the city. It was built in 1928 and since then attracts many visitors. The park is divided into two parts, one of which offers all kinds of entertaining facilities and the other is known as Neskuchny Sad (meaning Garden) with unforgettable landscapes. This park is also remarkable for rich vegetation with beautiful flowers.
